Teaching Approaches in Digital Era
Nowadays, there is an immense wealth of electronic resources currently available to teachers, which, if harnessed properly, can have a hugely beneficial impact on the learning process of their students, making it more efficient, appealing and practical. Education is being offered a wide new range of new possibilities and tools, by Web platforms, mobile apps and social networks, but not without a cost. New technologies can be difficult to deal with, and approaching it without a proper guidance and a practical training can be a time-consuming task.
In today’s innovation economy, education becomes even more important for developing the next generation of innovators and creative thinkers. This course constitutes a practical guide that helps to improve the quality and effectiveness of educational process in any classroom, developing the teachers’ skills of integrating smart technology in the classroom.
The course modules will broaden the teaching potential and motivate the students, by encouraging creativity, organizing projects, integrating minority pupils or using ICT as a tool for developing critical thinking.

This course wants to:
Provide an outlook on the best practices and concrete ways of using social technologies, web solutions and interactive apps to empower and support education;
Shift from the old paradigm of teaching and learning to an innovative one, in the information and communication technology;
Insert paperless and pen less classroom as an alternative to the old teaching learning method;
Get an overview of the most important new technologies and of the growing trend of integrating ICT into education;
Display a way of creating and using images and videos in the classroom;
Learn about the best apps and web solutions to make education more engaging, motivating and innovative;
Introduce the multimedia technology and the spawning of a tech-savvy generation of youths, which will change the role of education and lead to interactive teaching;
Focus on Multimedia learning process and how to use innovative tools in one’s curriculum;
Extend the scope and reach of students’ learning beyond the walls of the classroom.
Our courses, developed in the framework established by the Erasmus+ Programme, are crafted to include both formal and non-formal education methodologies. Starting with a theoretical approach to the theme of the course, we proceed with non-formal learning strategies in order to guarantee and stimulate an active contribution from the participants involved. In practice, we use: Presentations; Analysis of study cases; Discussions in the classroom; Role-plays; Technical visits to local private and public institutions; Conferences with local professionals to exchange good practices; Job shadowing experiences; Workshops to rethink old practices and introduce new ones. By applying scientific knowledge, students are faced with real problems which they will try and solve. In addition, certain key aspects will be revealed, such as the investment of learners put into the project, the representation they have of the scientific phenomenon, or the time available. Moreover, students will not only be able to complete a project, but also to apply new technological tools, and acquire skills such as sketch drawing, mathematical calculations, new materials, concluding drafts, teamwork.
Prior to the start of the course, participants will receive a detailed programme outlining the content and structure of the course, as well as recommended reading and viewing material relevant to the course contents. They will also receive practical information about Berlin, including maps, places of interest and accommodation.
